As I’ve gotten older, I’ve naturally gravitated to cream formulas. But historically, these types of products would disappear into my skin rather quickly.
So when it came to creating a bronzer, a formula that melded seamlessly with skin—but then stayed where you put it all day long—was a must.
I also wanted this formula to act and feel like luxurious skincare, so my first move was to brief an incredible Korean laboratory.
K-Beauty has a lot of advanced formulation capabilities in skincare, and I thought this particular lab could synthesize a sophisticated balm technology with long-wearing bronzing properties. I was right: We started with an actual skincare base using an ingredient called Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride. It’s loaded with fatty acids that keep skin moisturized and bouncy and is also what the industry calls “bio-mimetic”—these fatty acids occur naturally in the skin, so your skin instantly recognizes it, resulting in natural, amazing adhesion. Sounds nice, right? Well, then we added nine peptides, okra extract and snow mushroom extract to smooth skin and increase elasticity.
Then one final challenge: To create shades that don’t ever look grey or muddy on skin.
We did this by balancing the pigments (not too much yellow or black) for the most believable, sun-kissed glow. We did it with three shades that cover most skin tones. And there you have it: vacation in a compact.

HOW TO:
Swirl the larger, angled side into the pan of Just Like Paradise to pick up the color then sweep it in a “3” shape framing the eyes. Use the smaller tapered end with Just Like Paradise to sculpt the eyes right above the contour of your lids, then blend.
